We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of Yamaha’s legendary motocross athletes- Mike “Too Tall” Bell.⠀
⠀
Mike rode for Yamaha during the entirety of his professional racing career, and was one of America’s leading motocross and Supercross racers of the late 1970s and early ‘80s.⠀
⠀
In 1980, “Too Tall” won the 1980 AMA Supercross Championship and, in the process, racked up seven wins in a single season, which was a record that would not be broken for the next 11 years. In seven pro racing seasons, he compiled a total of 20 AMA National wins. He scored his last victory at the 1983 Dallas Supercross and retired at the end of the 1983 season. After retiring from racing, Mike had a long and successful career in the motorcycle industry. In 2001 he was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame. ⠀
⠀
⠀
Mike will be remembered by all who knew him as a wonderful human being and hearts go out to his family and friends.
